If you have carefully looked at the assignment sheet for this project, you might have noticed that you need to have annotations for sources and other sources require descriptions/analysis. What's the difference?
The annotation is more about the source itself and how you are planning to use it. So you might address:- What type of source is this?
- Is there bias we need to be aware of?
- How does this source advance your project?
Annotations tend to be most useful for secondary sources.
A description/analysis is about how it is relevant to your audience - this is what visitors to your site should see next to a source or its link. This would address:
- What does your audience need to know about this source?
- What guiding explanation or questions should they have when looking at or using it for your site?
Descriptions should accompany primary sources or perhaps articles by historians that break down meaning or guide the audience's reading of a source. Your pre-class essay text can be used for a description/analysis so long as it appears alongside where you are using the source in your website. So if I have an image in my website I want the text description/analysis below or a link or button to where the description is located.
